To configure the Windows Firewall to allow SQL Server Express traffic:
  1. Open TCP ports 1433 and 1434.
  2. Open UDP ports 1433 and 1434.
  3. Add the 'sqlservr.exe' to the exception list (by default, located in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn)
