New to WinSPC version 8.2 is the Within and Between type charts located in the Variable Analyzer.  The new chart types are the X-bar/ R/ MR chart and an X-bar/ S/ MS chart.  These new charts plot three types of variation statistics at once.

The upper chart is the X-bar which shows the mean value for the variable subgroup data.

The middle chart is the within (or batch) variation which shows the range from within the subgroup data (or variation of s {sigma} for S charts).

The lower chart is the between chart which shows the moving range between the subgroup data averages (or moving s {sigma} for MS charts).

The data grid is just an example to help show the underlying data and results for the X-bar/R/MR.

Also new in Version 8.2 is the X & MS chart which is the sample value and moving s {sigma} chart.

To access these new chart types use the following steps:

  1. From within the Admin window, drill-down in the Parts/Processes tree and locate the desire Variable.
  2. Right click on a variable and select Query, from the popup menu, to enter the Variable Analyzer.
  3. Left click on the Chart tab, to display the default chart.
  4. Right click in the chart area and select Chart Type from the popup menu.
  5. Left click to select the desired chart type, and the Variable Analyzer will now display the selected chart type.
