How to configure Windows Firewall for Microsoft SQL Server for WinSPC

Applies to
WinSPC 7.2, WinSPC 8.0, WinSPC 8.1, WinSPC 8.2, WinSPC 8.3, WinSPC 9.0

This applies to all versions of Microsoft SQL Server, including the Express editions.

To configure the Windows Firewall to allow SQL Server Express traffic:
  1. Open TCP ports 1433 and 1434.
  2. Open UDP ports 1433 and 1434.
  3. Add the 'sqlservr.exe' to the exception list (by default, located in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn)
