Tech note: WinSPC compatibility with Microsoft SQL Server 2012
Article Details

Last Updated
20th of March, 2012

Microsoft SQL Server 2012 has recently been released by Microsoft (March/April 2012).

Microsoft SQL Server 2012 is not compatible with older versions of WinSPC.  Only WinSPC 8.0.0 or later will be able to use SQL Server 2012 as a back-end database, due to Microsoft removing the "SQL Server 2000 (80)" Compatibility Level in the 2012 version.  WinSPC 7.2.11 and earlier require this specific Compatibility Level to function properly.

If you need to deploy Microsoft SQL Server 2012 in your environment as your WinSPC back-end database and are on WinSPC 7.2.11 or earlier, then you will need to upgrade WinSPC to version 8.0.0 or later before upgrading your SQL Server.
